Summer Anime 2024

Today I will be reviewing summer seasonal anime that I completed as I finally got back on my flow state and finished a lot of anime for the season. I watched like over 23 with only 3 left over which I am still waiting for them to finish, so I decided to watch nearly 30 anime for fall as it is packed. This will be in two parts and I won’t nominate them because I only plan to go for featured posts 3 a week for the 30 days or I will be backed up in the queue for a year. So maybe 12 posts you will see in FF in the future but the rest will be exclusively on my profile and website when I update it which will be soon. Why not drop a follow if you wanna see more of my blogs in your feed. Also the covers by me even the background of the cover.

Suicide Squad Isekai

As someone who loved comics growing up, I loved the idea of comics and anime but then they had to make an isekai. The original movie it's based on I really disliked but I like the Jonkler and the dc characters so I was hoping that we could see him but he has one appearance and isn’t even in this seasonal. Which is sad to see and feels like they clickbaited it with the trailer supposed to be Harley and Joker but it’s just Harley. The sub isn’t that interesting, and it's kind of mid but the dub actually makes it decent and might be enjoyable if you like isekai. Overall, may be good for a season 2 but s1 was uneventful and a let down so it is a 5/10 but a high 6 if it was based on the dub. Clayface carried the anime with his lines which are the only thing keeping it from being bad and maybe the Mori Calliope ed which is a jam.

My Deer Friend Nokotan

The most popular choice out of this seasonal and as an enjoyer of brainrot this anime didn't have an uninteresting moment, I wouldn’t give it Nichijou levels of greatness but it is still amazing at how absurdly creative the humor is for this anime. With the plot being random and unpredictable making it for a rollercoaster of a show, I was impressed by what this anime came up with for everything being deer related in the story and comedy. Makes me wonder what drugs they had to be on to even fathom coming up with them, the meme references and addictive opening make it a very memorable anime and is a hilarious experience. With it being a deer anime not only that but other characters were memorable as well, like the rice girl or the blonde one who gave us the best anime gif of the year with spiderman dance. I would rate it a High 8 out of 10.

My Wife has no Emotions

I had hoped this anime would be good as the manga was rated highly by a lot of people but I guess bringing it to life with animation completely ruined what the manga was going for because to me the anime felt super awkward and cringe. At the attempt to make romance with an inanimate robot it would go as you expected and made the protagonist seem pathetic so I could not relate to the romance whatsoever because she is emotionless. However, some of the stuff she does to care for him can be seen as cute sometimes, but this anime turnt it around with the plot funny enough. The introduction of the upgraded Mina and the baby they made, (yes you heard it right he made a baby with a robot) made the anime interesting and good of a watch; Mamoru the egg robot was the highlights of this anime and as I found the little bird robot to be adorable. I stuck with this anime and turned out to be good and enjoyed watching it. I also cannot wait to see the truth behind why Mina is special and the mystery of robots actually being humanlike. I give it a low 7 out of 10.

Pseudo Harem

This is a show I really loved as I am a sucker for romcoms and this hit the mark for me, a girl and a boy are in acting class and she plays his harem pretending to be various characters but in a wholesome way. Not in a weird sense, it’s super pure and a cute, funny comedy to wind down too. I loved the anime so much I wanted more of it but the anime I felt went a little too fast as 12 episodes isn’t cutting it for me because I need way more honestly. However the anime thought it was a great idea to adapt all 130 chapters and the ending into 12 episodes which seems to be the trend nowadays because it's very rare for anime to get a second cour so now they pack everything they can instead of saying up yours go read the manga. Although the plot wasn’t rushed it just went straight to the end, I didn’t read the manga but my two cents is they probably missed out a lot which would have made for a good slice of life episode. Overall, what I am saying is the only bad thing is the anime ended, and I was sad for like 2 minutes. So I would give it an 8 out of 10.

I Parry Everything

A lot of people probably skipped this because it looked generic but me as a souls gamer, I knew the vision and it did not disappoint as for what it is it’s actually good. The one trick animes are overdone, but this one has a big sword so it's cool and he can parry anything, he literally parries a freaking dragon so yeah the awesomeness scale is over 9000. The characters are your run of the mill fantasy characters having the darkness but normal knight, the princess who wants to fight and other minor characters. The protagonist saves the princess and then he gets recruited by the king and gets a sword. Another issue being the anime is too short again, a recurring issue with 12 episode seasonal anime but this is a mindless enjoyment that is not meant to be watched seriously so I give it a high 7 out of ten.

Alya Sometimes Hides her Feelings in Russian

This anime felt very similar to Bunny Senpai style of narrative, if you like it may be for you. One thing I must say about this is how much work went into the production as they made not just, not just 2 eds but 10 separate EDs which goes to show how much work went into this anime. The voice actress behind Alya actually learnt Russian in real life because they liked the soviet national anthem which is super funny, although that means that the cast actually fit perfectly for this anime. Even though for me it got boring a little, I still liked it because it had stuff to keep me interested. The plot is about Alya and Kuze who are a part of a student council and go against the two of other pairs, one being his sister that is not actually his sister, I know I didn’t really follow along well. Alya struggles to communicate and speak her mind so she is tasked with running for the head but has tribulations along the way. I liked the anime. It was enjoyable most of the time but Yuki has some weird jokes and I dislike them. I give it a 7/10.

Magical Girl and Evil Lieutenant Used to be Arch-nemesis

Right before I even watched this anime, I knew that it would be amazing. The author of this manga passed away in 2015 and was unable to finish it, the president of studio bones loved her previous work boku x inu and was in the talk of making an anime with Cocoa although it was shortly cancelled after she unfortunately passed away. Now to 2024 and they decided to make it a half length episode anime for 12 episodes of the existing content left and put so much work to every episode. They pulled it off to a tee. I loved watching this anime because every episode is amazingly animated and cosy too. The title is self explanatory, and sanbousan finds the mahou shoujo so cute that he cannot harm her so they go on dates. This anime is sure to be super emotional and an amazing romance with comedy as well, all the side characters are very memorable as well so not one thing about this anime is bad at all. The only thing is the length which cannot be helped as this anime is a tribute to Fujiwara so I give it a 9/10.

Senpai is an Otokonoko

An anime like this is super uncommon as it is about a cross-dresser who likes cute things and wears stuff to look feminine. When this anime came out a lot of bigots were hating on this because it shows a queer person and LGBTQ+ which is very disappointing to see, no one is forcing them to watch but they saw a new anime without knowing anything and started being hateful. So the anime was heavily downvoted and probably would have a higher score if they weren’t hating, anyway. The anime is about an Otokonoko which is basically a guy who dresses as a girl, and two of his friends have crushes on him so the anime goes through them dealing with those feelings. With being rejected or accepted and also with Makoto having the courage to tell his mother who hates the idea of it. It’s very touching and emotional, even if some criticism is that they went through the manga too fast; I still loved it and was very funny and had some teary-eyed moments. Justice for Saki Aoi as well. I found the anime to be amazing so I give it a 9/10.

The Elusive Samurai

Elusive Samurai was my personal favorite at the start of the season, as it’s from the author of Assassination Classroom and set in old Japan around Samurai and clans like Ghost of Tsushima. The animation for the most part was spectacular until they used CGI for some of the characters later down the line, but it didn’t take away from anything just made one episode and some parts seem very awkward. Also, some of the humour was very off-putting with Suwa giving huge Hisoka vibes and found him creepy because he was obsessed with Tokiyuki a literal kid. Although the story and the fight animation was top-notch and very enjoyable, this kid of a loyal leader of a clan gets wiped out by another rival overnight and he leaves his peaceful life to reclaim territory to get revenge on the man who is behind it all. I was not bored a single moment watching this and would have given it a 10 but because of the weird things it gets a 9/10.

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines

What caught my eye when watching this was the opening and ending animation were amazing and I loved them so I gave it a chance and it was better than I expected. A boy meets a girl who just broke up with a boy and she makes him pay for her food because she forgot her wallet so now in return she has to bring him lunch until she repays the debt. The concept was very interesting and they could have done more with it but also about the girls in a club that are losing their love interest and going over their struggles with being rejected. The anime was kind of over the place with the plot but it was enjoyable and Komari was my favourite character because she reminded me of Watamote. Furthermore, the animation was above average and so it stopped it from being average and was actually enjoyable. So much that I will give it a 7/10.

The Others

I am leaving two out of this to add to something for Fall for my group so I will be going over the stragglers as we go briefly over them as I already spent ages doing the cover of this anime. As I am learning how to slowly get better at editing. Mayonaka punch was a very good anime about a human who meets a vampire after being kicked from a youtuber group as they ruined her reputation, so the vampires start a tuber group and aim for a million subs because the mother who dislikes them doing it will shut down the house otherwise. The opening stood out as it was similar to Nokotans one and was addictive and was a fun watch so I give it a high 7 out of 10. Love is Indivisible by Twins now I hate siscon so I was going to skip but found out it was just twins who like the same guy and compete to see who wins but for me they end up being both annoying. I hated both of them. One is manipulative, and the other is so feeble, I couldn’t get behind it. It had one good episode where it had nerd references and that was fun the rest was domestic girlfriend levels of bad so it gets a 3/10.

Dungeon People is about a dungeon where there are levels to it and one person goes through the dungeon but at the last level the boss breaks a wall and then reveals a bedroom of the dungeon manager. She hires her to work at the dungeon and even though the art is nothing special, it’s a very good anime, which goes over how the place operates and the creative way of how it runs. I loved it so I gave it an 8/10.

Closing Words

I am writing every day because I can and to prove that I am a goat, to commemorate me blogging for 6 years and continuing a legacy of my old peers and senpais. In my time I shared my passion and even taught various famous bloggers like Gabe, Kimia, Velour, Weeb/Jokubo who went on to kill it (on a certain app), some even outshined me lol. Of course if I didn’t go on some breaks especially the prime days then probably would have gotten my props and been popular. Although I don’t care and even I got discriminated against from ego filled bloggers like when I dropped out the blogging tourney as everyone was toxic and my criticism about how poorly managed it was were met with the other teams being toxic and being ignored. Which as I call out the tourney was a mockery. Anyway, we cannot go too deep into that now lol.

Well, even outside of blogging or aa I have faced harassment from being staff on a redacted app too and even had haters so bad they spread you a bad person because you did your job as a staff. Although I had the worst harassment which would break someone it motivated me to continue doing good so that is why I am still here today to make a difference. The bloggers I admired like sarcasm and anime or users like Tauu made me start wanting to blog, now it has been 6 years and I have done it longer than the people who left before covid which is crazy to think about. Despite that, I am still trying to prove to myself and the dying flame of blogging on amino that I can one up myself over and over and inspire more people. As I do it because I enjoy writing and like content creation, it basically helps my mind and a good way to exercise the mind. So as always…

Thanks for Reading!!
