Revy

Revy is an amazing character from the anime Black Lagoon because others close to her have fun under her wing in the Lagoon Company. She lives on the edge everyday risking her life for the thrill and sadistic urge to kill anyone in her way, even innocent people with zero remorse, a true psychopath. I like her personality as she is very savage, mean and cool which makes her super badass; one of the most coolest characters in anime and it's a female, this is real equality right here. Nothing can stop her as she is always determined to fight even when she shouldn't because she doesn't give two flips about keeps anything, she does whatever she wants and it's 100% being herself while not being afraid to cause trouble. She may be a terrible person in theory but at least she is true to herself and keeping it really honest, some say she's evil in one sense but in this context she is actually the most open book which is far from evil when she's not fighting.

Revy all her life seems misunderstood, from her background involving mistreatment from an early age, made her into a cold blooded killer. The common story of killers, stems from their upbringing of being a rebel and abused that the cruelty of world made her like this. It's very saddening that she only found friends and interest in people later into her life like Rock who touched her heart so could of truly changed but was too deep into the sauce so she couldn't escape the dangerous lifestyle. If she met more people she could relate to and be friends with, it would show her the better side to life. She learnt to protect people she cared for and changed slightly in her recent years. I think she could have become a normal girl and live a happy life, but that is just a fantasy. On the other hand, she had a fond interest in guns her whole life and loved the thrill seeking experience of being in danger which probably made her happyiest she could be when she was killing. Not a single day of her life was boring for Revy, that's what makes you feel the most alive when you are always pushing on death's door. She did have a few interests, one we talked about which is killing, but she also loves to drink a bit too much. It's funny to see her drunk side as her personality really shines through, being even more cocky and mischievous but she is wasted so she can't cause much trouble except being an alcoholic.

Revy is no ordinary girl, from years of training with guns and honing her skills, she developed superhuman-like abilities from being a criminal from an early age. She makes for badass and exciting scenes where she is possessing her true Keanu Reeves and going John Wick on everyone like she lost her dog. It's the most entertaining type of action I prefer, it makes you feel like you're in the action and going like Terminator just being unstoppable getting those killstreaks in real (anime) life. It's very similar to Hellsing or Cowboy Bebop, where it's just gunfights; it has got to be one of my favourite things to watch in anime as it never fails to let me down and is the most fun to watch. Black Lagoon executes their troupes amazingly well, alternately Jormungand which is basically a clone of Black Lagoon is not even on the same level as it as Black Lagoon works because of how Revy is as a person and has lack of care for people's life which is how she can provide an entertaining spectacle for all of us to witness.

Revy would be the most fun person to get on your good side, if you wasn't as pusillanimous as Rock and equally as crazy as her then it would be super fun to be in the action with her and being like you're in a movie everyday. She is also super competitive and hard working is why everyday she is able to go out and protect herself or go against her foes in game ending battles, which shows her dedication and work ethic for her line of work. If she wasn't doing anything illegal she would probably make it in the world from how determined she is but the energy is ultimately used for bad as she has to go against the Yakuza Mafia and other criminals or law in her way.

Her humor is right up my alley and hilarious as it involves her sarcastic dry comedy that she is not afraid to lay down to anyone no matter who they are and even having dark humor which is super funny that she does not care who they offend as she is a true savage. Revy may be super confident on the outside but she is really in her shell when it comes to her feelings as because of her antisocial behavior, opening up isn't really what she does and it's hard to know if she has feelings for anyone or show her friendship with others. Revy is a lone wolf throughout her life so she is accustomed to other people, she never needed anyone else but herself as the world dealt those cards to her but she pushed through and never let it keep her down.

Everyone has their flaws even a super arrogant cynical confident murder machine known as Revy which makes her character amazing, as her character is certainly not 2D in any way but multiple layers of deepness and realness that not many writers could achieve. It's why we love her character a lot even though she is supposed to be doing heinous crimes against humanity, this type of anti-hero only works if it's executed well or otherwise it'd be impossible in theory and miss the mark completely. Black Lagoon is nothing without Revy, she makes the show far better than shows that copied it as they never had the same character type as her because how well thought-out she is; which shows how complex a simple murder machine can be.
