Carole & Tuesday Spotlight
The show being music based it’s a breath of fresh air that this show uses English song writing instead of Japanese not only that, but it is actually not Engrish this time like usual English in anime but fluent sounding English which makes the music in this show incredibly amazing for an original format anime which is outstanding also as it mostly English music in this show its amazing show for people who don’t watch anime. A good original anime is also “a gem in the rough” The show is very in tuned with being trendy and not coming across as fake and trying to be like “how do you do fellow kids” like some commercials in America but genuine as they care about the anime industry as it appeals to the western weebs. What I love about this show is the main characters as even they are quirky and genuine as they try and make a living in the field that is hard to grow in but there story is very realistic which is something I appreciated, if you want a genuine music anime then this is for you.
Inuyashiki Spotlight
The epic tale of evil and good is portrayed excellent between Ichiro and Hiro, each use their powers opposite ways but have the same motive that the world is hopeless so Hiro purges the world as there’s no point in anything and Ichiro tries to protect the world as he had no hope to save as many people as possible. Hiro given his powers thinks he is unstoppable and can do whatever he wants because he has the same powers as me until Ichiro Inuyashiki traces him down, they are go down a cat and mouse route. Hiro gets lost in a fantasy world, he gets too over himself and it’s not until the last moments that he realises what he has done and how many of his friends and family he has betrayed so Hiro to repent for his sins there’s a meteor that’s going to destroy earth which is a perfect opportunity to repent so finally Hiro and Ichiro work together, evil and good join together to save earth. The ending was very thrilling and sad a beautiful end for the show, it is worth watching!!
Childhood Anime
Ahhh, the good old days, back when VHS was a thing, I had a VHS player and a small television that was thick as hell but those were the days of coming home from school and putting on my Beyblade VHS and watching Beyblade until I fell asleep. Back then I didn’t even know what an anime was, probably because of 4Kids westernised anime and wrote them off as cartoons and that’s the American way they take from the east and emulate it but cannot compare to the great ol’ land Nihongo. As a kid Beyblade was the badass thing to me that you would have these spinning tops that were possessed by godlike creatures and they would battle it out to the death so much so that I instantly to beg my parents to buy me a Beyblade but my family was poor so I took ages until I had one.
As a kid in Britain from a poor family I couldn’t watch Beyblade on TV as we were too poor to afford all the channels or in England it wasn’t shown or our provider didn’t have them like DBZ or Beyblade but we had Pokemon, Digimon, yugioh and weirdly enough had Ultimate Muscle for some reason so I guess that’s cool. In effect of not having it on television my parents brought me the VHS boxset of Beyblade and some pokemon movies. Back then even though I didn’t have much it was still the best time of my life, for a kid the thrilling excitement of the fights between the Beyblades that would put my 6-year-old self on the edge of my seat was literally the coolest thing. I think a big part of anime nostalgia has a lot to do with the opening song of the show, Beyblades opening was the most badass song with the guitar riffs and in the background just hearing that song now just bring back so many good memories and not to mention the catchphrase “let it rip” is so memorable for late 90s kids.
