Completionist Insanity #1

This series is me talking about shows, I'm finishing from my on hold list.

Senko-san

I put on hold Senko-san because I got really bored of the anime, with it being uneventful through the first 6 episodes, of the same troupes and loli intimacy between the two characters; which I really didn’t like at all with the sexual innuendos with fluffing the tail because it's very weird and maybe I'm getting old but I just find the lewd loli stuff disgusting. (you know what the creepy old men running the studio are trying to tell). I guess you could put most of this show in the category of weird loli romance, that’s personally I’m tired of seeing; it’s fine if it just moe blob stuff but making it lewd it not fine and everyone is just like the Chad meme with two Chads saying anime has loli lewds and other one says yes, I know. This anime is not directly lewd except lady sora, (which god dam them bazongas) but it’s obvious the makers were trying to go down that path with all the hints instead of actually plot.

It is a shame because later into the cour, the show finally picked up with showing the universe; it could have had potential if it focuses more on world building from the fox god place and show more of what the darkness surrounding the main character is. If it was more moe than lewd then I would have liked the anime way more because I'm all about the wholesome pure moe type stuff. I find the premise of the fox girl healing you from the darkness of everyday life very intriguing which I would love to see more about it like how to heal it or more depth around it. I guess fox girls really do help your soul.

The slice of life side of this anime I found to be very lacklustre, because it felt very repetitive and predictable with the same troupes (except for some episodes, for example with the other friend of Senko cooking on the stove which was enjoyable), like the main character comes home she doing something for him like cooking then he gets tired and snuggles her tail then maybe she gets all blushy for the loliservice which I got tired of very fast. What makes slice of life good is the vibes of relatability but how they did this was very boring, 2 episodes of the same things without any interesting additions is the breaking limit for me.

This anime just made me want to get it over by the 6th episodes which is why I dropped it for 2 years. When I came back to it, I remembered why I dropped it but I only had to endure a few more episodes until some new stuff actually happens and lady sora made it all worth it. For me I have to finish everything because I'm a crazy person who only cares about the number on my completed list. After 13 months hiatus this was the first thing to come back to and may as well write about each one because I haven’t blogged since then.

I guess this demographic, they were trying to appease to a seinen audience of hard-working Japanese people who actually pass away from exhaustion, I think making it as relatable for working class as possible for as much sales and numbers in Japan is understandable because Japan companies main focus is Japan and they don't really care for foreign sales or reach, well most of them anyway; but this is why it fails to be a well-rounded show being they feed too much into the soul healing moe lewd garb but not even in a good way. If you take out the lewds and make it turn it up to wholesome 200 percent. I think it will be a way better show and the what makes good slice of life, the background music, if they had more recogniseable bgm that was more what you see in slice of life then it could help making it better because the music I didn't feel was very anything not even rememberable.

The side character Shiro, I feel has a lot of potential to be better; the whole stick of her replacing sugar instead of salt and not having any concept of awareness, I really love because it was just pure innocent fun and deserves more screen time because she is a interesting and cool character in my opinion. I have watched a lot of slice of life and this is an embarrassing attempt at the genre which is why I’m going to give it a five even though I picked up during the end, if I see season 2, I hope they develop on to it which would make season two better. You could say its only 12 episodes but could do a lot more and the pacing of the plot was terrible because they got too caught up in the whole generic troupes that it created at the start.

Cheating Craft

This is a show I watched when it aired in 2016 so it has been 5 years and now, I’m back to watching it, Haoliners have made some terrible and I mean some of the worse anime of all time so when I first saw this wasn’t too excited but as a seasonal watcher I had to stick to the creed and watch it to the end. I don’t know why I dropped this; I think because it was one of those short form animes that didn’t really have a linear plot so I wanted to watch better stuff but now I have 100 anime on hold which is killing me to look at so I must finish them all. I have to give credit to this anime because as comedy wise goes this show is pretty goofy so much that it makes it hilarious, while also having a plot in conjunction with comedy which is impressive considering how short it is.

The show is about school students doing test but then they have to cheat without getting caught or an enemy or tribulation happens that they have to defeat to pass. It goes into fighting or actual training courses, all episodes start out of nowhere with a new plot like right without any introductions into the meat of it which I understand because this anime is 12 minutes but is trying to be a full anime so they are skipping corners. The way it incorporates school stuff and power is pretty unique like with his pen he makes it shoot fire and fire magic which I thoroughly enjoyed the creativity of this anime and would probably be a very good show if it was full duration. I would love to see more about the plot and maybe a full fledged anime for anime's to get another season are very rare so very unlikely but if it had one it would work very well as a full length anime.

The thing I dislike about this show is the characters are very generic and bland, at least the main characters are except for the green haired girl because she has the troupe of a gintama kagura girl who's actually the smartest one for some reason but in a funny way, I guess they didn't have enough time to make a dumb girl and a smart one so they put it into one. I feel like the more interesting characters were the side characters because they had unique looks but didn’t get near enough screen time which is a shame to see as I liked the bug guy's appearance and he only gets justice in later episodes.

The show's protagonist is the one of the most boring generic characters with the generic character story of him trying to be like his father but execution of a donkey trying to cook a three-course meal, in other words terrible because it's a very unoriginal approach on it. The shows concept and situations are pretty creative, random and unique while being original, it’s a fun little show if you don’t want to invest 6 hours into a show, you can experience this underrated anime in half the time. For how long it is, its worth watching as it wont take long and you’ll get some enjoyment out of it. Which for the sake of that, it’s solid a 7.

Thanks for reading!
