Hair Colour in Anime | Collab
If you didn’t know which most of you don’t, is that I’m basically the godfather of symbolism in blogs. In 2018 I did symbolism and my colours in anime series of blogs which other bloggers have taken the idea since I did mine. (jk idk if I founded it but certainly when I came up with the idea, no one else was doing it at the time)
In this blog will be talking about the hair colour of anime characters, which is actually way deeper than you might think! In anime, producers and artists most often use a certain chart of hair colour relating to their personality and character, so without wasting anymore time; let’s explore this secret information from the industry, let’s a go!!
Coma's Turn
Asuka Langley
Orange
Asuka’s hair is the colour of orange, a somewhat common colour in anime. Asuka’s character is very extroverted and fiery, the colour orange is like the hair on a lion’s mane and she has the courage, aggression, and confidence of a lion. As a lion you must always be strong and put on a front because of this Asuka acts tsundere to hide her true soft little feelings and insecurities; at first I found her character to be really annoying but after writing this blog I came to understand her character a little more.
As she always doubts herself even though she is a Lion, she has a preconceived notion that she will be a failure or mess everything up but never shows it and just acts very angry which can be portrayed as annoying to a majority of people who watch NGE. I would have to say that she is a very deep and complex character when you look into it because in symbolism the colour orange is the most complex colour out there, orange trees are in some places are a symbol of love and that is true in Evangelion as her love interest is Shinji but he is too wimp to figure it out as Asuka is tsundere. Orange in dreams can symbolise prosperity and in the end of evangelion the whole anime feels like an acid trip dream, in the anime Asuka is the only one saved along with Shinji out of the entire earth so she has good fortune to have survived.
Vash The Stampede
Blonde (Kinpatsu)
Now Vash the stampede from an amazing classic called Trigun is true blonde, blondes in anime are very foolish which is an accurate description of him he acts dumb which could be either on purpose or not because Vash does exaggerate his dumbness to act normal and not let his guard down so others think he is dangerous, he is a very likeable character because of how funny and witty he is that you can’t help but love him. The colour blonde or technically yellow in psychology is said to bring joy and happiness which is what he definitely brings out in the audience or as Vash says “This world is made of peace and love, V”.
Blonde can also be seen as a prince, while Vash may not come across or look like a prince but certainly has some traits that a prince can have, like Vash is extremely Humble even though he may be very stupid at times; he is like the Batman of anime he never killed his enemies and stays down to earth. Another trait of a prince is they are often excluded from normal folk and are very alone with no friends, Vash is an example of this he lost his friends/family and was alone and on the run for many years so he is indeed a very lonely person. As of his loneliness, is probably why he is so goofy and humble when he meets the girls in the show he tries to be a goofball in front of them because he tries to makes others happy as he has been hurt so much and is a truly wholesome character which is why he is one of my favourites of all time ;-; (just writing this made me tear up ☹)
Hideki's Turn
Pink
Whenever I think of something calm and peaceful, I can think of just one color: Pink. It is a color that is often described as feminine, with the ointments and shading being favored toward women. It’s also a (usually) passive color, with no signs of violence and just a background full of cuteness surrounding the color (usually representing affection and love). However, it’s not just referred to as a pure-love color or anything like that... It's also a color that demonstrates youth: it’s full of energy that's waiting to be unleashed to the world. Honestly, it’s a beautiful color once you get the symbolism behind it, and what better way to showcase the color by giving examples of characters who happen to have pink hair :000?!?!
Natsu Dragneel
With that being said, I’d like to introduce you to one of anime’s most popular characters to date! He is one of the main characters of Fairy Tail, and an absolute beast in combat thanks to his Fire-related magic. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you... Natsu Dragneel! Natsu is a pink-haired lad. He is among one of the strongest wizards in all of Fiore, and essentially the most recognizable member in Fairy Tail. Partly because of his ridiculous stunts ranging from crashing the Guild Hall or steadying brawls, but also proving that he is respected by not only from within his guild, but from guilds world-wide. Though while I think it’s obvious that he is indeed THE strongest Wizard in Fairy Tail, it’s mind-boggling that many foes continue to underestimate him, just ask Zeref yourself.
Besides me giving Natsu a saucy autobiography, I chose Natsu for one very important reason: HIS HAIR IS PINK & ITS AWESOME 👁 :lips: 👁. Nah nah I’m joking (partly~). While I did choose him for his hair color, I started to ask myself “why should he be deserving to be part of my color themed blog?” Well, I started out with the fundamentals of the color Pink: Energetic, Loving, Compassionate, all of the traits the color pink represents coincidentally matches with Natsu’s personality. He is a young lad filled with energy, a loving member of the fairy tail guild (and a possible lover for Lucy :flushed: ?), and his passion for his friends is quite broken. Ironically, he is the opposite of passive (aggressive), but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem since he does represent pink well. I mean who could forget the spiky pink-haired guy who one-shots bosses like a cheat code?! I’m sorry haters, but the dude is just on another level; no way he can lose to anyone as long as he has the power of friendship on his side!
Yuno Gasai
Now that I introduced you to a character who is a completely good person, i'd like for you to meet this other person! This time, however, she is not so nice :flushed: . She is referred to as the famous Yandere in all of anime: Pink-Haired girl with eyes filled with a bloodthirsty stare... unlike Natsu, this person isn’t as forgiving. I give you: Yuno Gasai. She is one of the main characters in the anime, Future Diary. She is one of the 12 future diaries who happen to be in a relationship with one of them (that goes by the name of Yuki). For some reason she falls in love with Yuki as he tries to avoid her as much as possible, but it’s not stopping her. Her ability to protect Yuki is pretty scary, as she will have no mercy in killing those who harm him. I believe this is who you’d call, a Yandere, a dere-girl who WILL cause harm to anyone who messes with their crush or whatever.
You know, despite being a blossoming teenager, she is very agile for her abilities. I wouldn’t expect a 14-year-old girl to learn how to shoot a flipping submachine gun or how to effectively use a katana! She’s nuts (quite literally). Anyways, as an obvious choice, I’ve selected her to be a character to best represent Pink in this blog. It’s not simply because she has pink hair, but because of how well she fits the personality traits of Pink despite being... well, violent. A youthful girl, Yuno is often protecting Yuki as she expresses her strange yet requited love to him, to protect him from those who try to harm him. She loves him. She wants to protect the person who she feels is someone precious to her. She won’t let anyone take Yuki away from her, leaving her bloodthirsty will to kill burning hotter than anyone has ever imagined. Her love for Yuki happens to be her greatest strength, a true warrior when it comes to protecting someone. It’s convenient really... Yuno being the pink-haired girl who loves her boyfriend to death while displaying a bit of everything the Pink color has to offer (though she is FAR from being passive ).
Thanks for reading!!
