Favourite Movie
Hey guys, it’s Cona about to recommend you one of the most must watch anime movies ever. Akira story follows a dystopian cyberpunk world with motorbike gangs and terrorists, Tetsuo the main character discovered some old age boy who has some psychic powers after crashing because of the boy's powers. He gets captured by the government military who experiment on him which causes him to have said powers, he escapes and his powers unstable the military attempt to capture him before his destructive powers are unleashed. Akira is a cyberpunk futuristic supernatural adventure movie from the 80s which went on to influence not only anime but a lot of pop culture in America and all around the world even the matrix was influenced from Akira, which was way before it’s time. Not only has Akira influenced a majority of sci-fi genre but Akira also is very much reminiscence of western culture so it’s a perfect gateway anime for any new anime watchers or even people who don’t watch anime could easily enjoy this movie.
Akira’s storyline is very fast paced and complex for when you first watch it as it jams packed 6 volumes into its 2-hour runtime. I think for a movie to be truly a masterpiece like Akira is, once you watch it a second time or third you see it in a different way and finally get what or why the ending happened. When I watched this movie for the second time, I appreciated it more as I saw it in a different light; the replay-ability is a major reason for a great movie. This movie is a classic in terms of anime movies, Akira is very hard to review as it could be interpreted a lot of ways and may or probably will differ from person to person, that’s how you know it’s such an impressive work of art. A work of art is a great way to explain this movie as the animation was impressive for its time and still holds up to this day as it’s so much detail even though it’s 3 decades old. The movie is very minimalist yet so ambitious and has so much more depth to it once you fully understand the whole movie. Therefore, this movie is unforgettable and why you should, no scratch that; why you must watch this movie, if you haven’t done it already; what are you doing with your life do it asap!!
Favourite Anime Duo
Hey this is Coma here, talking about my favourite anime and why Gon and Killua makes such a great duo, In one of the greatest shounen out there, Hunter x Hunter. This anime is one of the best because of the everything about it but what makes it even better is the characters especially the main characters, half of the quartet Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck stand out most from the main character and for good reason. The duo compliment there personalities well and one makes up for the others weakness, Gon is innocent, naive and impulsive so he acts before thinking about the precautions and dangers of what he doing but on the other hand Killua is very vigilant, calculated and rational so he Gon can make the first move in a fight well Killua can find openings to defeat the opponent or make more chances for Gon to make the finishing move. Not only does this apply for their personality but it applies to their abilities, Gon and Killua have a very close fight style but also have a ranged attack, Gon has his rock, paper, scissors abilities which can be useful if Killua being the strategist he is can stun the opponent and then Gon can finish them off with ja ken po move that can end the fight. Gon doesn’t care about what is good or bad he only caters to his curiosity as he thanked evil people that made him stronger and admires Hisoka so he is fearless against his opponent just like Killua is ruthless and has no remorse for his action against opponent as long as he get to where he wants so, which makes them the perfect duo as they have no weaknesses as each one makes up the others imperfection.
Samurai 8
One of the biggest manga’s of all time, that was in the big three and one of my favourite stories. Naruto, if you an otaku you probably heard of this manga or even if you haven’t watched anime. Well, I have great news the mangaka of Naruto; Masashi Kishimoto has a new manga that just started publishing this month called Samurai 8: The tale of Hachimaru with Akira Okubo that illustrated Naruto joins back as the illustrator and with Mikio Ikemoto that worked on Boruto. Samurai 8 is a science fiction intergalactic samurai manga, almost like a cyberpunk adventure with robots and when I was reading it, it reminded me of Inuyashiki with the cyborg people and stuff, oddly enough or another big influence I could see was reminiscent of A Ghost In a Shell and Akira. Hachimaru a young boy who is on life support because of this he is stuck in his home to a machine, this terminally ill boy wants to go outside and become a Samurai but has a phobia of pain.
One day, Hachimaru is doing what he usually does on a normal day; playing fetch with his robot dog named Hayatarou which acts like a cat, Hayatarou returns a ball but it’s actually a daruma and so he draws in the eyes and makes a wish to be able to be normal and bring home his dad safe from a trip to finish a deal with the bad evil cyborg Samurai’s. In the Daruma is a maneki-neko who used to be human with a machine body and a Samurai (who is a dog person) The samurai captured Hachimaru’s father, the evil samurai go to Hachimaru and use the key that his father wear to open up Hachimaru and retrieve the katana inside him and killing him but the artifact that the villains holding and fuses with it gaining the power of Sanrinshin, the three chakra bodies and his robot dog Hayatorou turns into a Holder (a robotic anime which is a battle pet or service pet) defeating the samurai, Hachimaru must travel the galaxy and retrieve the six other keys. Now that’s the story and I have to say it, I already love it, the story is very unique with its sci-fi cyberpunk shounen which has never been done before, to my knowledge. I’m excited for the rest of the series and it might be in the next top three, who knows!!
Thanks for Reading!
