Blue in Anime

Hello, If you don’t know how this blog works basically I research what different connotations and symbolisms the colour has, and I relate it to different anime characters with that same colour hair. Now you know what the blog entails, you now understand how this works. The characters I will be talking about are Megumi from Food Wars, I had to include Saiko Yonebayashi as she is one of my favourite waifu’s, Chino Kafu from Is The Order A Rabbit, Mio Naganohara from Nichijou.

Megumi Tadokoro

Megumi Tadokoro the blue haired girl from Shokugeki no Souma, she grew up with her mother taught her to think of someone special to her when she cooks and knows the importance of friendships in her life. She will do anything for her friends even give up chance of advancing if it meant betraying; the phrase “true blue” stands for someone who is loyal, trustworthy and faithful. Megumi is loyal as she won’t give up on the people at polar star dormitory, Megumi is faithful as she has strong connections to her family and friends and will try her best to never let them down. The saying “True Blue” also has another meaning of being genuine which I think fits Megumi perfectly as she never tries to be someone she’s not and act how she truly is. True Blue is an old fashion phrase that was made in the Britain in middle ages.

SAIKO YONEBAYASHI

Saiko Yonebayashi is one of my favourite character as she is very relatable, I feel like she is me if I was a anime girl so I had to include her on the list. Some types of blue bring out feelings of melancholy and being very relaxed because it comes from the colour of the sea and sky or when people say I’m blue dabadi dabada they often mean they’re down in the dumps as it is often used in popular culture and I think this relates very well to Saiko Yonebayashi as she is very carefree person this can be perceived as having feelings of melancholy which I think probably has an effect that makes her have the only desire to stay inside and avoid having to attend the important missions but yet she still prevail as being a good investigator and because she does she is often too relaxed, doesn’t care about anything else. Also, the colour blue is also in the sky which is among the clouds which is a metaphor for having your head in the clouds as Saiko prefers to stay in her own world digital by gaming on her handheld gaming device and using it as a form of escapism. In popular culture the music genre Blues or the saying ‘having the blues means being very melancholic as well.

Chino Kafū

Blue have all sort of meanings and each person can probably tell you a different meaning of a colour as not everyone sees colours the same literally and symbolically. Blue can be observed as the opposite of red, for example; red is aggressive and angry while blue is reserved and quiet just like Chino Kafu is, prefers quiet and when others are being loud or reckless, she gets very annoyed at that kind of behaviour. She is also sort of emotionless which ties in to blue as red is full of fiery emotion and blue is hardly any emotions. To further the point that she is reserved so much when Cocoa works away from the Rabbit House shop, she gets very absent minded. Chino also acts far more mature and responsible for her age as she must manage the Rabbit House when I think of this it reminds me of a shade of blue call Teal which is seen as very sophisticated just like how Chino wants people to perceive her as and I noticed that she does wear some teal in her outfit so I think the creator of The Order Is A Rabbit did that because he thought the same thing as what I just said.

Mio Naganohara

Mio excels in her studies and in school she is extremely smart as in some episodes Yuuko often copies Mio’s homework as she always passes test and Blue can stand for wisdom and intelligence, my interpretation of this is that god lives in the sky and he is all knowing so Blue is often in religion symbolised with wisdom. Not only is Mio smart in school she draws manga and is very talented at it when she draws yaoi manga in her notebook its very well drawn and Indigo symbolises mastery; when her manga gets destroyed, she gets very sensitive which blue is also symbolises sensitivity

END.
